A tile full of daring
Flowing curves, gleaming colours…classical beauty! Respecting traditional values, EDILIANS has created Canal S, an unusual tile which brings together a respect for our heritage and great technical achievement. The Canal S shows both technical and aesthetic advances.
A fine example of a canal tile
Traditional "canal" roofs are formed by a combination of two different tiles, the bottom tile or "tegula" and the covering tile, the "imbrex". The Canal S combines these two tiles in one single tile. The Canal S reproduces exactly the typical curve of traditional canal tiles. The designers have also emphasised the principle of the headlock, to maximise the canal effect. The effect of the Canal S is stunningly authentic.
Incomparable
Ease of installation and maximum watertightness came foremost in the design of Canal S. But in these respects, Canal S bears little resemblance to ordinary canal tiles. Canal S also boasts a remarkable mechanical resistance (about 500daN i.e. more than three times the required resistance) thanks to a selection of specific clays. Together, these technical properties make Canal S quite incomparable. Canal S - like all EDILIANS tiles - is manufactured in France, at St Geours Auribat.
Traditional
The 6 colours of the Canal S have been developed to harmonise with the local roofs. It was conceived for renovation work and therefore goes particularly well on the roofs of old houses. However, its authentic character is highly valued for newbuild as well, in regions where canal tiles are predominant.
